When people think of luxury, they think of the Porsche. With the labels of its cars' high price, powerful engines, and smooth lines and elegant, there is no doubt that Porsche is one of the most prestigious manufacturers in the world.

The genius behind the company was a man named Ferdinand Porsche. Born in what is now the Republic Czech in 1875, showed astonishing mechanical aptitude at an early age. It was the third of five children. His father, a plumber, expected Ferdinand to take over the family business but Ferdinand had other dreams. At eighteen, after completing his apprenticeship with his father, he took a job in Vienna with Bela Egger & company Co.

In business, Fernando showed amazing skill for his age. He built an electric motor wheel hub, and soon attracted through street to rival Jacob Lohner & Co. Company is actively developing electric cars, and Ferdinand felt his skills could be better spent. And there were three years after joining the company, Porsche had built an electric car track.

This historic car, the Lohner-Porsche, was innovative in several ways. The two wheels, motors integrated into the front wheels had a power of 2.5 horsepower generated an astonishing 120 rpm, and were completely silent. The battery could travel 50 kilometers between charges. The car can travel up to 50 mph.

But this was only the beginning. Porsche began experimenting with internal combustion engines, and your next car, the mixed system had internal combustion engines wheel hub. Porsche won several records speed and general applause-his name was already well known not only in engineering circles, but also the general public. By 1905, won the coveted Poetting Award as most outstanding engineer Austria.

In 1906, the Austro-Daimler offered to make your Porsche's chief designer. Porsche accepted the work, and in 1910 he designed a car 85-horsepower for the trial of Henry Prince, an international competition named in honor of Prince Henry of Prussia. Porsche's designs won the first three places in the trial.

With the onset of World War I, Austro-Daimler began to focus on the production of war materiel, such as trucks, aircraft engines, and mechanized weapons. Porsche achieved a star over the years, in 1916, became managing director of Austro-Daimler. Also was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Vienna. This honor was very meaningful to him. Never afterwards was known as Professor or Dr. Porsche, and incorporated the honor on behalf of your company.

Dr. Porsche had competed in rallies and speed competitions since he became interested in building cars. He believed that by building racing cars, which could improve the performance of your vehicles. As a result, developed an interest in building small car, the high light output.

Unfortunately, he and Austro-Daimler looked into his eyes. Board of the company disagreed with Porsche wanted direction to take, and finally, Porsche left. He reached a position in Steyr, but the Great Depression led car-making a profitable business. The company collapsed, and Dr. Porsche was unemployed.

So he moved to Stuttgart, a city with a strong connection to the automotive and the location of several prominent companies, and started a consulting business. His team consisted of people who had worked before, and some members family-including his son, Ferry.

The company's objective was to help other companies design a better car, not the design itself same. Thus, in the beginning, none of the cars the company had designed the Porsche name. That changed when the government, now controlled by the Nazis, arrived Porsche with a project: design a car "for the people", a Volkswagen.

Porsche as a company has always been closely linked to Volkswagen, many components of Porsche cars arrived in the early Volkswagen Beetle. Porsche Volkswagen were popular, affordable cars that survived after the fall of the Third Reich. Porsche and his son and later his grandson, continued the break because of design cars like the 911, the Boxster, the Spyder, Roadster, Race, and many others.

Porsche survived the Great Depression, the Third Reich, and dramatic corporate restructuring to maintain its place at the forefront of the automotive industry. No matter the country, everyone knows that cars Porsche booth luxury, power and performance.
