Wwii Tank
What were the U.S. anti-tank weapons in World War II?

Especially in the beginning of the war. Thanks Marc I'm currently reading Galder's diary – The commander of the German staff in the Eastern Front. It is interesting that the enemy saw this war strategist. The main problem of the Soviet army was the inability to withstand the massive tank attacks from the Nazis. I just wanted to know how the U.S. comes to these things. Sorry about your uncle, John. The brother of my grandmother was a gunner and he was killed by a German sniper in Kalinin (now Tver is called ') in 1941.

In 1942? Fighting towed M3 Armor gun firing armor-piercing ammunition that could defeat 36mm of steel armor of 500 years or protected Armor-piercing ammunition that could defeat 61mm steel armor at 500 yards. It is often claimed that a copy licensed or unlicensed in the German 3.7cm PaK 36 gun was actually a completely different ammunition American shot (37×223R vs 37×249R), had a different transport, and different barrel and chamber. The M3 was deployed in the anti-tank platoons infantry battalion, anti-tank company of the infantry regiment (which was supposed to get the M6 self-propelled version of 3 / 4 ton Dodge 4×4 pickup, but never did) and a platoon assigned to each artillery battalion of infantry divisions. Battalion level, then before the advent of the M1 "Bazooka" the only anti-tank weapons and M9 was the M9A1 anti-tank rifle grenade. One man in every rifle platoon was isued with a bolt action Springfield M1903 rifle capable of launching rifle grenades with pitcher of the M1. This grenade could penetrate 100 mm of armor in a position ideals, but the damage within the target was modest, given the small size of the grenade. The gun company in some infantry regiments were equipped with T-12 armored M3 half-track assembly of famous French Mle 1897 (U.S. M1897) 75mm gun. These were originally intended to equip destroyer battalions separate tank, but were completely inadequate to the task. The weapon was similar to the ballistics of the weapon after M3 Grant M3 Lee and M4 Sherman tank and fired the same ammunition. While the M1897 was mainly due to a field gun firing high explosive and white phospherous ammunition in support of the well infantry could shoot an armor piercing round capable of defeating About 70mm steel armature 500 meters wide, a very useful performance in 1942-43. Effect on the goal was much larger than the 37mm gun. I agree with the idea that the main problem faced by the Soviets was the inability to resist "massive" attacks Panzer. The very poor mechanical condition of their already limited motor transport and armored formations, the inexperience of its officer corps, after the purges of the late 1930s and generally abysmal communications network were much larger concerns than 4,000 German tanks, most of which were already obsolete. In theory, 20,000 Soviet tanks in June 1941 were a far superior force.
