What is a court painter? please read?
I know it sounds a stupid question, but what is a court painter is literally someone who paints people in court? im doing some research on Arcimboldo and a website just say "In 1562, Giuseppe Arcimboldo became a painter in the court of Emperor Ferdinand I (Habsburg) and went to Vienna, he moved to Prague. During the 2 years when Arcimboldo was Ferdinand I, he painted several portraits imperial family and the first series of his Four Seasons. "thanks
Hello dukiflif …., Any painter who is designated to be the official painter of the royal court called the court painter! A court painter Giuseppe Arcimoldo mean that was the painter of the royal family. This means he was appointed by the king as the greatest painter of his time, and only able to perform commissioned to paint portraits of the royal family and to paint pictures that would be appropriate to decorate the walls of the palace.
