Shooting Trench
in WW1 trench warfare weapons used periscope?

did just look at the top to shoot or have a periscope as intelligent connected to the gun to see over the trenches threat free?

They use a periscope rifles in the Great War. A periscope attached to a rifle and the trigger was tied to a piece of rope. They put the guns on the shore and with mirrors, pointed to the enemy. It was so easy to point and I'm not sure it was as effective as they thought due to inaccuracies, but there periscope rifles. It was invented in 1915 by an Australian and used by the ANZAC forces.
