General Humbert
Great progress was initiated in 1870 in the hybridization of the canna lily by a combination of genetic material from wild canna species that had been collected worldwide, as production of the variety 'Madame Crozy'. Developed a strong interest in lilies and colorful garden plant that had previously been cultivated mainly for fast growing tropical foliage from wild canna flowers were mostly small and uninteresting. Italian interest in hybridizing irises even extended to the Italian queen monarchy King Manuel II and his son, King Humbert. Canna Yellow King Humbert is believed to have been renamed by an English gardener Richard Wallace.

Other Victorian type Canna cultivars that still exist and are listed in order catalogs e are: Rosemund Cole, a bi-color, orange and yellow green -: canna leaf, Black Knight is also sold as Ambassador, a deep crimson flower, a blunder low, the city of Portland, small pink flowers 6 feet above the green leaves frayed, and Firebird, as orange-red flower that has little orphan been expelled from most home gardens.
