From East
The East Midlands is home to one of the largest clusters of aerospace world – systems designed and manufactured here are in the most advanced aircraft. The region has about 15% of the UK aerospace industry for value and employment, with 25,000 workers. R & D spending in aerospace in the region ranges between 260 pounds and £ 300 million a year in the region is home to some of the major high-tech companies worldwide, including Alstom and Thales addition to the headquarters of Rolls-Royce and main manufacturing plant.

Rolls-Royce
Perhaps the biggest name in industry Rolls-Royce is regional, the iconic company in the United Kingdom and the world's largest aircraft engine has its headquarters and manufacturing facilities jet engine here. Rolls Royce offers the widest range of engines for the aviation industry, with over 600 airlines (including nine of the top ten world) rely on Rolls-Royce power. The company is known for demanding the highest level of skills available – for example, Rolls-Royce invests around £ 800 million Years of research and development projects to improve its product portfolio, increase efficiency and improve environmental performance.
In recent 20 years, Rolls-Royce has established a global network of 28 Centres of the University of Technology (UTCs), 19 in the UK. Each UTC address a key technology and collectively address a wide range of engineering disciplines, combustion noise and aerodynamics and manufacturing technology.
Others key players
Other major companies in the East Midlands of England are Alstom, SPS Technologies, Thales, BAE Systems, Greene Tweed. Together, create a regional focus on propulsion systems, onboard systems, engineering and consulting.
Advanced materials
Another important strength in the region is a specialist in metals and materials, with companies based here providing innovative resources around the world. The Advanced Composites Group, for example, is a leader in composite materials – widely used in the aerospace sector – with its high performance, durable products.
