Why the melee still play a key role in the war of modern Africa?

In the 1st world nations and their wars, no I remember the last time I heard of a bayonet charge or any type of powder was melee. Everything has been replaced by long-range guns. Without But somehow, we hear stories of rebel groups from hacking each other with machetes in Africa as well as machine guns shooting at each other. Why what is this? Why are the melee weapons remains important in the war in Africa? Note that both use machetes and machine guns, and not just machetes or just machine guns.

I think that shooting a man from a considerable distance isn't any good in Africa. By killing a man with a knife or machete shows that it is strong and powerful as he watches the man die in front of him while inflicting pain. Like most of the time shooting someone is a bullet and died no power or respect comes from that. I think this happens more in Africa because many of the bands and organizations that are there fighting each other
